DITA Storm does not require installation on the client. It is entirely built with DHTML and JavaScript. Browser is not expected to support ActiveX or have Sun JDK installed.

DITA Storm can be easily integrated into existing web applications both as a natural replacement of the text editing form fields and as an editor of DITA server document. DITA Storm provides simple JavaScript interface to load and retrieve modified DITA XML documents.

DITA Storm is deployed as a set of static files. DITA Storm can be deployed on any web or application server used with all of the web application technologies including J2EE, .Net, PHP, Ruby/Rails, Perl, TCL and many more.

Content can be edited by end user and requires no knowledge of XML or DITA much like it works in office text processing applications.

DITA Storm lightweight design does not affect it's rich editing functionality including selection handling, copy-paste operations, context-sensitive menus and more.

DITA Storm provides ability to configure DITA editing area using XSL and CSS which makes editing ultimately close to the end result.

Currently available on Internet Explorer and Firefox, upcoming versions will support Netscape and Opera browsers.
